Shorea wood patio furniture is known for its durability, appearance and strength. It is a tropical wood and is very comparable to teak wood. It is particularly resistant to moisture decay, fungus and insect damage. Indonesia, Southeast Asia and the Philippines is where Shorea wood can be found. A natural fading process will start after a year or two. The wood will then begin to turn a shade of gray. Some customers prefer this antique look while others may choose to maintain the woods original color. Teak Oil or Linseed is what may be used to rub into the wood periodically to maintain the original color.
